A mulch calculator can save you from spending time in a garden center trying to figure out the quantity of bags you need for a flower bed. A wrong calculation can leave you with unused bags or force you to go back to the hardware store to buy more.

Why the Extra Features Matter
A flat bed may require a different amount of material than a slope area. A slope adjustment can provide you with a more practical assessment that can help reduce the chances of coming up short.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
All calculations are still estimates. Choose the waste percentage yourself, especially in areas that contain obstacles such as curves, corners, and tree roots.
A flat bed area may not need that much allowance for waste as an area with many obstacles. Your real requirement may also change depending on how the mulch is spread evenly.
The price per cubic yard or bag that you enter determines your cost estimate. The calculator does not pull live prices from stores. So the estimates can differ from your final price.
Mulch weight does vary. The weight of the same volume can change depending on the material, brand, and moisture level. Therefore, treat the calculated weight as an estimate rather than an exact load measurement.
