Checklist Progress
This tool is a general preparation organizer only. It does not provide veterinary or medical advice.
The New Puppy Checklist Generator helps you organize the things you need to do and buy when preparing for a new dog. Instead of trying to remember everything yourself, you can create a checklist based on your dog, your experience, and your home.
The tool is free to use in your browser. After the page loads, the checklist works on your device without an API or database. Your saved checklist information stays in your browser using local storage.
How Does the New Puppy Checklist Generator Work?
Start by making four selections in the Personalize Your Checklist section.
First, choose the Dog Stage that fits your dog. You can select a puppy or an adult dog.
Next, choose the appropriate Dog Size.
Then select your Owner Experience. This helps the checklist take your experience level into account.
Finally, choose your Home type, such as an apartment or house.
After you make your selections, the generator creates a checklist based on those choices. This can help you prepare for different needs before your dog arrives.
For example, someone bringing home a small puppy as their first dog may receive different reminders from someone who already has experience with adult dogs.
The checklist is organized into sections so you can work through the items without having to handle everything at once.
Sections for Preparing Your New Dog
The checklist covers several parts of getting ready for a new dog. Sections include areas such as Before Your Dog Arrives, Home Setup, and Important Information.
You can open and close the sections as needed. This makes it easier to concentrate on one part of your preparation at a time.
As you complete items, the Checklist Progress area keeps track of how many tasks you have finished. The progress bar also gives you a quick view of how much of your checklist is complete.
If the list is long, you can scroll through the sections and check items as you finish them.
Search and Filter Your Checklist
The new puppy checklist generator also includes tools to help you find items quickly.
Use the Search checklist items... box to look for a particular item. The checklist will show matching items while hiding items that do not match your search.
You can also use the filter buttons to change what you see:
- Show All displays all checklist items.
- Show Completed displays the items you have already checked.
- Show Remaining displays items that still need to be completed.
These options can be useful when you want to review your progress or find the tasks you still need to finish.
Add Your Own Checklist Items
Every dog and every home is different, so you may have things to remember that are not already on the list.
The Add Your Own Item feature lets you create your own checklist items. Type your task into the box and click ADD ITEM.
Your custom items will appear in the My Custom Items section. You can check them off when they are finished or delete them individually when you no longer need them.
This gives you a simple way to combine the generated checklist with your own plans.

Save, Download, Print, and Share
Once you have created your checklist, you have several ways to keep it.
The Save button stores your selections, completed items, and custom items in your browser using local storage. This lets you return to your checklist on the same device.
You can also download your checklist, create a PDF, print it, or share it with someone else. This can be useful when more than one person is helping prepare for the new dog.
If you need to start over, use the RESET button. The tool asks you to confirm before clearing the checklist.
When Should You Use a New Puppy Checklist?
You can use the checklist before your dog arrives to organize supplies and prepare your home. You can also return to it during the first days and weeks to keep track of unfinished tasks.
A checklist can be especially helpful when there are many small things to remember. Instead of keeping everything in your head, you can work through the list one item at a time.
The New Puppy Checklist Generator is a general planning and preparation tool. It does not provide veterinary or medical advice.
Use it to organize your preparation, keep track of completed tasks, and create a practical checklist for welcoming your new dog home.
